2011 South Park Rib & Wing Challenge This Weekend

Looking for something to do this weekend? Why not the 2011 South Park Rib and Wing Challenge?

Event: 2011 South Park Rib & Wing Challenge

Location: Allegheny South Park Fairgrounds

Date: Saturday, September 3 through Monday, September 5, 2011

Time: Saturday & Sunday noon until 10pm, Monday noon until 8pm

Cost: $8 pre-sale, $10 at the door*

Description: Enjoy live music, a children’s zone, crafter’s market, Wild World of Animals shows, an activity tent, pony rides, a petting zoo and lots more. The South Park Rib and Wing Challenge has some of the best BBQ’s from all over the country.  Come out to taste the perfection that these ribbers and wingers are preparing and you decide who will take home the Challenge’s 1st place trophy. Savor Pittsburgh: A Celebration of Pittsburgh Food

On September 1, 2011, a collection of Pittsburgh’s finest chefs will share their favorite recipes in an all-out competition for coveted “Dish of the Year” honors at the annual Savor Pittsburgh: A Celebration of Cuisine, presented by McCormick & Schmick’s Seafood Restaurant and SouthSide Works to benefit the American Respirator Alliance.

Farmer's Market

Check out this wonderful farmers market! The weekly market will be open to the public Wednesdays from 3p.m.–6:30 p.m. on the Shady Side Academy Senior School campus at 423 Fox Chapel Road. The market will be located in the first parking lot off the entrance drive and will run until Oct. 19 or when the farmers finish their fall harvest.

Are you Ready for Some Football?

The Steelers start their pre-season on Friday in Washington D.C. when they play the Redskins at 7:30. The Black and Gold will be returning next week with their first home pre-season game at Heinz Field against the Philadelphia Eagles Thursday August 18th.

Some of the Steelers got a feel for Heinz Field last week as they participating in the filming of the newest Batman film. The players played football players, what a huge surprise! Read more about the Steelers and the film here.

The Bethel Park Farmers' Market features over two dozen venders selling everything from freshly prepared foods, homemade baked goods and jams to produce, flowers and coffee.
